Oliver Tatom

ABOUT THE PROJECT
Oliver Tatom is a local Bendite who currently supports frontline caregivers at St. Charles Family Care and Immediate Care in La Pine as RN Supervisor of Clinical Operations. He also takes time to give back to the communities where he lives and works through various volunteer commitments, as well as serves on several boards and committees within the community.

I’ve worked on several projects for Oliver — some layout work for his various community efforts, as well as his personal brand for his run for Deschutes County Commissioner in 2022.

PROJECT SCOPE
Logo — two color
Brief: his name, simple enough to be immediately recognized/read from a distance. Prefers softer/organic edges — think of the Obama 2008 logo. An image or shape that evokes compassion and optimism. Reflection of his identity which centers around his desire to care for people — his kids, his family, his dogs, his friends, his patients.

NO anything related to mountains and trees — those are overdone in Central Oregon.

The process

It all begins with an idea. First, we’ll sit down and have a conversation about you and your business. I love to look at pieces together that you like and feel fit your style to get a reference place to start.

Typically, I will provide a panel of very rough pencil sketches to the client and recommend that they pick two or three that they’d like to see refined and more finished. Next, I’ll narrow it down to one and try different fonts and layout options. At this point, it is important for my clients to remember that EVERYTHING is interchangeable.

And if we hate all of the options, we can go back to the actual drawing board! Sometimes, things just don’t go as well as you’re envisioning. One thing I pride myself on is speaking in layman’s terms to provide my clients with accurate descriptors that are cross-specialty so we can all be on the same page.
